I began really trying to lose weight right after New Year's Day. I hate making "resolutions" but it was more of me saying "I need to do something now... who cares if it was January 1 or June 1". I needed to do it today.
It's been a month since I officially started this healthy journey. Have I made mistakes? Yes, absolutely! Was my journey perfect? Almost always it's never perfect. I am a gluten free gal... but have I always been 100% gluten free? Truth? I do slip up. I try my best to avoid it, but sometimes it's just there and I do cave in. I just learn to forgive myself and move on.
So what have I really been doing? Working out? Sorta but no. I began doing Yoga earlier in January. I've been wanting to do yoga but am too embarrassed to attend classes as my flexibility is 0. When I started yoga, I couldn't even touch my toes. That's pretty bad! I did it for a good 2-3 weeks and found more flexibility. I found myself tying 4 and 5 year old shoe laces much easier than before.
What do you means "sorta but no"? The thing is, I don't work out in the same sense as a gym-a-holic would. In fact, most people consider working out as sweating or exercising and staying focused for a period of time. I don't. My exercise consist of my job from 7:30 am to 12:00. From the period of 7:30 to 12, it's nonstop moving, dancing, jumping, and yes, even yoga! I started to make my student join me in a little yoga so I can "get it in". But you're not sweating! I don't sweat, you're right, but I do find my heart racing when i'm jumping up and down doing the alphabet or counting to 50.
Do you plan to do more exercise than that? Of course. But I really just started to get focused so I don't want to say I'm focused on being healthy by eating right and going to the gym. I think I'd be setting myself up for failure. Again, baby steps.
I think most people who don't find working out "enjoyable" will relate to me more. So if you are trying to lose weight but can find the motivation or are motivated but is overwhelmed, join me on this journey. I'd love for you to just share how things are going for you.
So what have I lost since January? I'm officially down 9 pounds.
